Ethernet Virtual Private Networks (EVPN) is a Layer 2 Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology aimed to transport Ethernet frames over a core network offering significant advantages over the legacy L2VPN technologies: An unified control-plane across Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPN services and the support of multi-homing, i.e., a customer site can be connected to multiple Service Provider Edge (PE) devices leveraging Aliasing, Designated Forwarder, and Split Horizon mechanisms. In this lab you will learn how to deploy EVPN services (ELAN and VPWS) over SRv6, understand the different route types, their purpose, their usage, and their details, while learning how to configure, verify, and troubleshoot EVPN Single-Homed and Dual-Homed solutions on IOS XR routers.
