SONiC: The Linux of Networking
SONiC (Software for Open Networking in the Cloud) — the open-source NOS born at Microsoft Azure, now a Linux Foundation project, and rapidly becoming the backbone of AI and cloud-scale data centers.
For participants who have taken introductory or have basic SONiC experience; in this hands-on session, you'll:
- Trace a BGP Prefix end-to-end — follow its journey from FRR into the RIB → FIB → Redis DB → ASIC, and see how SONiC programs the dataplane.
- Configure & Validate ACLs — apply both control-plane and data-plane ACLs, then verify enforcement across the stack.
- Stream Telemetry with gNMI — tap into multiple data sources to collect real-time operational insights.
- Troubleshoot Like a Pro — navigate SONiC to gather the right logs and artifacts for effective TAC engagement.
